M24643/7

MIL-DTL-24643/7 LSMHOF Shipboard Cable

Mil-Spec Military part number MIL-DTL-24643/7 is comprised of one cable-type designation: LSMHOF. LSMHOF is available in a range from 7 to 61 conductors and can be categorized by the Standard Identification Code using either Method 1 or 3. All 24643/7 cords use thermoset insulation and have an outer cross-linked polyolefin jacket (XLPO). LSMHOF cables have multiple conductors and are heat and oil-resistant. LSMHOF has two conductors and is heat and oil-resistant. MIL-DTL-24643 cables are non-watertight and offer flexing service. The cords are constructed with the required number of cables along with fillers and optional binder tape. This cable is suitable for use in one or two connected compartments but may not be used to penetrate a bulkhead or watertight deck.

What does the cable designation LSMHOF mean?

In the cable designation for LSMHOF, the letters LS refer to low smoke and halogen-free cable. The third letter, “M” stands for multiple conductors. HO refers to a cable that is heat and oil-resistant, and F refers to the flexing nature of the cord.

M24643/7 Construction:

  • Conductors: Either stranded coated or uncoated copper conductor
  • Insulation: Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPR)
  • Jacket: Low-Smoke, Halogen-Free XLPO is highly durable and operates well in high heat

M24643/7 Ratings and Approvals

  • Mil-Spec
    • MIL-DTL-24643
    • MIL-I-45208A
    • MIL-STD-790
  • Navy Shipboard Spec: LSMHOF
  • Voltage rating: 600V

Features and Benefits of M24643/7 Cords

  • Non-watertight
  • Thermoset insulation is ideal for settings where durability and stiffness are essential
  • LSZH jacket is fire resistant and emits low smoke, which is ideal for shipboard settings which often have restricted ventilation
  • Heat and oil-resistant feature reduces maintenance and cable replacement needs
  • Portable cords with flexing service permit use in applications where repeated use may require flexing without damaging the cord’s internal conductors
