M24643/3
MIL-DTL-24643/3 Types LSSHOF, LSDHOF, LSTHOF, and LSFHOF Shipboard Cable
Mil-Spec Military part number MIL-DTL-24643/3 is comprised of four cable-type designations: LSSHOF, LSDHOF, LSTHOF, and LSFHOF. All four cables can carry 300 volts and can be categorized by the Standard Identification Code using either Method 1 or 3. All 24643/3 cords use thermoset insulation and have an outer cross-linked polyolefin jacket (XLPO). LSSHOF cables have a single conductor and are heat and oil-resistant. LSDHOF has two conductors and is heat and oil-resistant. LSTHOF has three conductors and is heat and oil-resistant. LSFHOF has four conductors and is heat and oil-resistant. All cords within the MIL-DTL-24643 designation are non-watertight and offer flexing service. The cords are constructed with the required number of cables along with fillers and optional binder tape. LSSHOF in sizes 23 and larger also offers additional reinforcement.
What does the cable designation LSSHOF mean?
In the cable designation for LSSHOF, the letters LS refer to low smoke and halogen-free cable. The third letter, “S” stands for a single conductor. HO refers to a cable that is heat and oil-resistant, and F refers to the flexing nature of the cord.
What does the cable designation LSDHOF mean?
In the cable designation for LSDHOF, the letters LS refer to low smoke and halogen-free cable. The third letter, “D” stands for double conductors or two conductors. HO refers to a cable that is heat and oil-resistant, and F refers to the flexing nature of the cord.
What does the cable designation LSDTOF mean?
In the cable designation for LSTHOF, the letters LS refer to low smoke and halogen-free cable. The third letter, “T” stands for triple conductors or four conductors. HO refers to a cable that is heat and oil-resistant, and F refers to the flexing nature of the cord.
What does the cable designation LSFHOF mean?
In the cable designation for LSFHOF, the letters LS refer to low smoke and halogen-free cable. The third letter, “F” stands for four conductors. HO refers to a cable that is heat and oil-resistant, and F refers to the flexing nature of the cord.
M24643/3 Construction:
- Conductors: Either stranded coated or uncoated copper conductor

Features and Benefits of M24643/3 Cords
- Non-watertight
- Thermoset insulation is ideal for settings where durability and stiffness are essential
- LSZH jacket is fire resistant and emits low smoke, which is ideal for shipboard settings which often have restricted ventilation
- Heat and oil-resistant feature reduces maintenance and cable replacement needs
- Portable cords with flexing service permit use in applications where repeated use may require flexing without damaging the cord’s internal conductors
