MIL-DTL-24643/11 LSSSF Shipboard Cable

Mil-Spec Military part number MIL-DTL-24643/11 has one cable-type designation: LSSSF. This is a special-purpose cable that is rated for 600 volts.  24643/11 cords use thermoset insulation and have an outer cross-linked polyolefin jacket (XLPO) which is bonded to the underlying insulation.  This cord is non-watertight and has flexing service. It operates within a temperature range of -20°C to +90°C. These cables can be used within one or two continuous compartments, but are not permitted to penetrate bulkheads or watertight decks.

What does the cable designation LSSSF mean?

In the cable designation for LSSSF, the letters LS refer to low smoke and halogen-free cable. S refers to a single conductor, the second S refers to special purpose, and F refers to flexing service.

M24643/11 Construction:

  • Conductor: A single 300 MCM conductor
  • Insulation: Cross-Linked Polyethylene (XLPE)
  • Jacket: Low-Smoke, Halogen-Free (LSZH) Cross-Linked Polyolefin (XLPO) with surface markings bonded to the underlying insulation

M24643/11 Ratings and Approvals

  • Mil-Spec:
    • MIL-DTL-24643
    • MIL-I-45208A
